Since the 70's reggae listeners have enjoyed the echodelic sounds of Dub music. We know what it is. We see the album covers showing vintage analog equipment like the one to the left. We hear names like King Tubby, Bunny Lee, Prince Jammy, Scientist and Lee Scratch Perry. We read the liner notes and see lists of musicians who played the music behind the dub.
Over 30 years have passed since dub was born and we want to remind you who dub is. We're not by any means worthy to say who dub is, and neither are we certified reggae historians. However, out of pure gratitude and respect for the people who pioneered this timeless music, we've decided to pay tribute to the dub pioneers.
Part one of this tribute includes dubwise mixes from Zonk One and Jah Mex, which are streaming here on Shockout. You can listen now by clicking HERE and selecting these mixes from our Tribute to Dub's Pioneers drop down menu.
Part two is this look behind the scenes of dub with biographies and pictures taking you back to a time in history that may never repeat itself. You can find this right below here. We apologize in advance for the names of people who may have been left out and invite you the reader to comment in our blog, or via email with information we may have missed. Respect Due.
