"WORDS, POWERS, AND SOUNDS". I heard Fantan Mojah chant those three words in the begining of one of his more recent singles called, "No Matta How Dem Try", and I believe that is a perfect way to introduce a man like this. Born Owen Mancrieffe in countryside of St. Elizabeth Jamaica, Fantan Mojah has been musicaly inclined since the age of nine as he would win various talent search contests. One of his first gigs was a handy man job for the Kilamanjaro Soundsystem as he would take advantage of the sound checks and sing on all the new riddims. Being a big fan of Bounty Killer, Mancrieffe had first named himself 'Mad Killer'. Fantan Mojah's name today was partly influenced by the great conscious deejay, Capleton, as a way to represent a more spiritual sound and Rasta beliefs. In 2004 he began working with Andrew 'Prento' Prendergast and Joseph Bogdanovich of Down Sound Records. A hit was made right away with Fantan Mojah's "Hungry", as it shot to number one in Jamaica. Not long after came "Hail The King" which hit the Jamaican charts even harder and arived to number one as well. His first album called "Hail The King" was released by Greensleeves this year 2006 and is jam packed with many "words, powers, and sounds". Keep it linked with Fantan Mojah's music as there is always something new to hear and learn from it. -Adam Arredondo
